    Default Groups - thumbnail preview

I wish you could preview groups. I am working on a project (which I did not start) that has at least 20 groups...which are numbered. I have no idea what each group is or what it looks like.

Also...what is the point of the "modify group origin point" command? It doesn't seem to affect anything when I change it. Why can't it be like a block insertion point (ACAD)?

You can name groups as you go along. Alternately, just select one and then rename it there and then with something more useful than 'Group 15'

As for the insertion point - when you select a group and swap it for another - they swap with regard to their insertion point. Also - if you modify the insertion point of a group - the insertion point of all like groups are modified too.

So if you expect to be swapping groups - select the insertion point carefully!

    All the best -

    Phil

I KNOW you can rename a group...but if you are not the one who created them, it's a real chore to go back and try to rename them all.

As for the insertion point...I'm really just wishing they actually WERE an insertion point, so when you bring in a group from the list you can place it in the correct position with one click rather than having to align or move it after placing it - just like AutoCAD. Everyone winces when someone points out how something in ACAD is better...but I only invoke that when it truly makes sense.
