Having seen what my performance looks like, and being rather tired of lousy software and hardware, I am contemplating that Big Switch! But I do have some questions first.
My understanding is that the DVI cable between a MacBook Pro and a Cinema display provides not just the graphics pipeline, but also USB & FireWire400? Is this true? That sounds like you can basically use the DVI cable and monitor as a docking station then, which would rock. Could you even plug a USB hub with four devices into the monitor and get good performance via DVI?
Also, how much functionality makes it across to Windows with BootCamp or Parallels? Dual Monitors (MacBook screen and the Cinema)? USB & Firewire? How about printers and scanners plugged into the Cinema? Does the ball on a Mac mouse zoom properly?
And lastly, for Revit use is the 7200rpm drive worth the extra cost? Given that RAM seems to be used more efficiently, I wonder if hard drive speed is also more efficiently used?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Gordon
