Question How do you move layouts from drawing to drawing?

I have a project that I am altering and all the layouts were done in seperate dwg files. I want to move them all into one drawing so as to eliminate unwanted files. I tried the sheet set manager, but all it does is give links to where the seperate dwg files are located.

You can transfer page setups via the Design Centre (ctrl+2).

You can drag and drop layouts with design center (ctrl+2), it's a good idea to name your layouts accordingly.

    Another method.
Add a layout to the desired dwg. Use the "Copy with base point" command using 0,0 as a reference and past it to 0,0 of the new dwg.

Do you mean copy the paperspace contents of a layout to another using a base point?

and there is always the old school way...

    _layout
    Template
(select the dwg that the desired layout is in) click select
(select the desired layout) click ok

But obviously with the design center drag and drop is by far faster

What do you consider "unwanted files"? We have a file for each sheet, with some files having multiple sheets (layouts), elevations for example. Having a file for each sheet is not necessarily a bad thing. As for coping layouts you do that via design center, as mentioned. Note that if you copy a layout you may not see any objects in the vport unless the objects said vport is looking at are also in the file.

Yes, they were asking how to consolidate Layouts (not page setups) from multiple dwgs, the layouts being in different dwgs.

You can copy the model space entities using "copy with base point" then paste in the new drawing using "paste to original coordinates". Then copy the paperspace viewport anywhere in the new paperspace. Just realize that the viewport comes into the new drawing with the display turned off (at least mine does). So you'll have to highlight the viewport, right click and select "Display viewport objects" and click on "Yes"

    Works for me!
