I have a project I did in ADT which needs to be revised. The revisions are so extensive that I believe I could redraw it in Revit faster than revising it in ADT.

My question is: what is the best way to trace over an Autocad plan?
Is there a way to have the imported walls just appear as a halftone background so I can snap to them without having them get in the way like an underlay?

    Thanks

Just import the dwg file and use it as a template for your revit layout. You can align, etc. to the imported dwg. You can turn off imported objects in the visibility settings dialog. You can also hide/isolate it.

If you go to the 'object styles' under the settings, you can set all imported objects (your DWG's) to be grey under the 'imported objects' tab. This should do what you are looking for. You can also set them to be grey under the visibilit settings within a view, but by doing it under object settings you can chagen them all at the same time.

I import the acad file in color. It come in as a block. Then I trace over it.

    Thanks,

It works like a charm. I was first trying it out by linking it in a drafting view which duh! doesn't work.
