Recently purchased Autocad 2008. When I try to import files from a business partner using autocad 2002, message "cannot find fonts: asdros96, asdroms, special" appears. I have been trying to locate these fonts with no luck. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, welcome to AUGI.
These fonts are non-standard - ask your partner to supply them to you. Suggest that your partner uses "pack n go" to bundle every external file required by the drawing into a single archive.
AFAIK, there should be no problem in actually using the fonts with a later release.
Note that some fonts are protected by copyright, and cannot be shared.
To the OP: If you set FONTALT to the name of an available font (e.g.: SIMPLEX), then you should not be getting prompted for a font. Are you sure these are not names of SHAPE files (rather than fonts?)

Without getting too off-topic, any idea how that works? In other words, if you create a document using fonts you purchased, do you have the right to share those fonts as long as they are only used to view that document (and not used by the other party in other projects)? Hmmm.... I suppose that's a dumb arguement, it would be like saying that you could share AutoCAD for a project, something you obviously can't do. So in other words if you use a custom font and want consistancy then (most likely) everyone involved in the project will need to purchase that font (legally) unless you want to do alot of changing later. Interesting...
