your wish has come true,..... no thanks to autodesk.

the installation file is 500kb and is not a revit plugin,.. stand-alone application, but you can create complex patterns by, tracing over images, etc.... and it is real EASY to use.

    Hope this helps

the Pattern Tool is a good tip, it would be vastly better if it had a tool for creating curves, and if it worked within Revit.

Ideally we should have something like ArchiCad or Illustrator, where creating a new hatch pattern is as easy as selecting a few (lines/arcs/circles/elipses/splines) and right-click to give it a hatchname.

I really like hatch22 by Mertens3d. Best money I've spent on a revit extension. $35 won't break the bank either.

I have used Mertens' Hatch22 before, it is many times better than 'RevitHatchBuilder Englisch' <sic>. However, it misses the mark on many aspects, not for the price, eg. it doesn't work well for complex non-repetitive shapes; takes dozens of steps to do what takes 2 steps in other software; something so simple and highly used as creating hatches should be a basic function of Revit, not an addon -- there are many times more options for creating materials in Revit than there are for Hatches!?! Also, there is no way to edit an existing hatch, so you must redraw every hatch before use, (a limitation of Revit rather than Hatch22).

HatchKit has always allowed existing patterns to be graphically edited.

Today we are pleased to release a public beta of HatchKit 2014 for all interested to try and perhaps comment while we ready final release versions.

HatchKit 2014 Beta will work alongside existing HatchKit installations.

HatchKit 2014 Beta works as a standalone application or will integrate with the HatchKit Add-In for Revit that is available from the Revit store at Autodesk Exchange.

The HatchKit Add-in for Revit allows large patterns exceeding the constraints on scale imposed by Revit's pattern import wizard to be loaded directly. HatchKit 2014 and the HatchKit Add-In for Revit work together to allow building a hatch pattern template (the entities repeated to for a pattern) within Revit, manage its passage to HatchKit for pattern arrangement and generation and, on return, bring the finished pattern into Revit for immediate use within the current project.

No DXF or Pat file handling is required however existing PAT files or DXF files can be loaded to HatchKit 2014 and processed in the same manner as done in earlier versions of HatchKit.
