    Question Design-Build Arch/Eng. Firm

I am from a Design-Build Arch/Eng. Firm. Most (80%) of the buildings we build are pre-engineered steel, warehouses and production/offices. The exterior wall components (and some interior walls) consist of rolled steel girts and a thin metal panel attached to the exterior of the girt. Roofs are the same but placed on a slight angel. My question is how many Revit users draw this kind of building and how?

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Tom,
It can be done in Revit Architecture - use the Structural tools to create new families dealing with your needs. I have attached some I found in recent years. The wall is then the thin metal panel.

Thanks David for the samples. After examining them a lot of questions come to mind. I’ll start with a few: (mind you that I am new to Revit and not very familiar with a lot of its functionality)
Do you bother with top and Base Plates for the column?
Can you attach the two elements together?
When creating the beam to go across the whole building, how do you do that?

In last couple of days, I have been able to create a wall with a panel (1¼” thick) and two girts as sweeps located at 7’6” AFF and at 14’ AFF. Also a stacked wall with a 8”x24” spread footing and a 8”x48”stem wall.

Many examples in the forum. Here's a simple 8" GIRT; Frames; bitmaps for rendering; discussion of modeling approaches -
summary -revit works well with premanufactured building types.
