Default way to change curtain panel to curtain door panel?

I started a new family not realizing that i made a curtain panel family instead of a curtain door panel family. all the categories are the same so there is no way to know that you are not in a door family. anyways i can't find a way to change the panel to a door panel family.

Is there such a thing? otherwise i need to rebuild the family.I only realized that this was an issue when i tried to tag the "door" and it does not register as a door.

    Thanks

    Justin

Have you tried creating a new door - panel family and copy/pasting from the curtain panel family you've already modeled?

i can't copy the reference planes from the family. without that i am pretty much starting again anyways as all my parameters are driven from the reference planes.

Yeah, the default ref planes don't come over, but any new ones created do. I would think reassociating geometry to the few default ref planes would be quicker than recreating it. Of course, it all depends on the complexity of the family as well as being a preferencial thing.

i ended up remaking the family. Lucky for me i started by making a door slab from a generic model (that i used in my standard door family). since i already had this piece i didn't really start from nothing.

Thanks anyways. Just looking for a quick fix

    Interesting.
Normally you would do this from the Settings....Family Category and Parameters pull-down.
However, it looks like you can change just about any Family's Category that way . . . except Curtain Wall families.
I wonder what's up with that?

I think it's simply due to the curtain panel door family actually being a curtain panel so it functions properly within a curtain wall, but there's some 'behind the scenes' data in template so families created from it will schedule as a door.
