    Default can't select objects

I've tried pickadd, pickauto, pickfirst, highlight, clear selection set lisps, cycle on/off I don't have multiple drawings open.

I have ACAD 05 and my object selection is acting up. i can't select certain objects at random times. if i envoke any command first i can pick them but i am so used to selecting and then doing the command.

it works fine sometimes and then other times it just stops working. i don't have to exit the drawing to get it to work but this is slowing me down. (it is any file i open and other users aren't having this problem with those files)

i see others have had this problem but i haven't found a solution that works yet.

    please help?

    thanks

I've had the same problem a few months ago, but on AC2008. I've had to insert the drawing into a new clean drawing and explode, only then it worked.
Someone explained that it was something to do with entities drawn on layer 0 or Defpoints, and these layers frozen / locked. I'm not sure how that works though?

Go to your selection tab in your options. Under selection modes see if Noun/verb selection is checked

this is the pickfirst sysvar and it is checked or set to (1).

as for "irneb", when layer 0 is off or frozen you cannot pick anything on defpoints layer. (no need to move to a clean dwg.) This is not the case here.

    anybody else?

Try a command line purge (-purge) and purge all RegApps.

So what your saying is...it will randomly act as if pickfirst is set to '0'. Sounds like something is messing with your variables. Can you give some specific commands you are using?

We have had issues with drawings getting set to perspective view. I think it gets done inadvertently when using 3dorbit. Try this:

    Dview
    Return (select objects)
    Points
    0,0,0 (target)
    0,0,1 (camera)
