Default Explode(?) field after block insertion

Is there a way to explode or otherwise disable a field after the block it is in has been placed in the drawing? I want to use filename and createdate fields in my title block but our ERP system automatically saves the file under a new name once it is uploaded and when you save a copy of the file out of the system in order to rev it, the creation date changes.

I want to auto populate these things but I can't have them changing on me later.

    Thanks for your help

if you absolutely have to: click on the field in the editor, right click, select "convert field to text"
Sometimes, i get lost in my own thoughts and need to ask directions to find my way back.
