I can't believe that this has never come up before, but can anyone fill me in on why some child/xref text styles are listed in the STYLE dialog, but others aren't? Is it a particular drawing setting or style setting which controls this?

In a test, I only get one Xref style to show up in the STYLE dialog (even though they all show up if you iterate the STYLE table)...
However, even more strange is that you can set an Xref style current and create text on that style. Then if you detach the xref, the text using that style gets "orphaned" - no style is listed in LIST or PROPS.
Neither AUDIT or RECOVER fix this problem either.
Further inspection reveals that the group 7 DXF code (name of the text style) doesn't even exist on that entity.

Interesting. I think it's been unpredictable in this manner for as long as I can remember. I've always just ignored the inherited styles, whichever ones happened to show up, but now I think I need to understand it a little more in depth while researching another semi-related issue. Thanks for digging into the missing DXF codes for orphaned entities... this may help me.
