Exclamation Errors when creating DXF files (DXFOUT)

An annoying problem has been plaguing me for some time now. I work with ACAD 2002 at a mill work manufacturing facility. Part of my job is also to program a CNC machine. Now my problem is that the software for the CNC requires our drawings to be in the R13.DXF format. The majority of time the DXFOUT command works fine, but occasionally, for some reason unknown to me, the process that usually only takes a second, lasts for a few minutes and then the file is not usable. It seems like some of the files are "contaminated" somehow. Even if I copy a single line from a "contaminated" drawing to another drawing, the second drawing will no longer export properly. Has anyone else run into any similar problems?

    Hi

Haven't experienced similar problems, but I don't have to work with DXF very often.

Give the following threads a browse, they contain a little info regarding drawing clean-up, might be helpful as you say it's only the odd drawing file that causes this issue (could be the drawing file just needs cleaning so to speak) -

Cannot lock file for save back

    Internal Error

AutoCAD crashing when cursor comes within vicinity of spline

I assume you've already looked at the ._Audit & ._Recover commands.

    Have a good one, Mike

Thumbs up Re: Errors when creating DXF files (DXFOUT)

Mike, thanks for the info! I read and tried pretty much everything you directed me to. And, YAY! I think we've got a SOLUTION! My drawings had to eventually end up as R13.dxf files. To go directly from a .dwg to a R13.dxf would not work on corrupt files, but DXFOUT to ACAD2000.dxf does work. Then as per the instructions found in the article that you directed me to "Recover damaged drawing files" (by Autodesk), I used DXFIN and then DXFOUT again to my required format. This seems to work great. I should've asked you this question 2 years ago, maybe I'd have a little more hair left. Thanks again Mike!
