    Default EXPERT

If memory serves me right in older releases you could change the setting to the "EXPERT" system variable once and it would be that way forever. Now the setting only stays until you get out of autocad and back in.

Does anyone know a way to set the "EXPERT" variable once and for all in 2008?

what does it do? Does it make your drawings look like an Expert did them? Will it auto-fix mistakes? Does it come with a "Complete Project" button?

According to the documentation, EXPERT is not saved.

So you will have to set it in "acaddoc.lsp" if you want it to be a certain value at startup.

You could edit your acaddoc.lsp that will set the sysvar each time you open a drawing.

Just add (SETVAR "expert" 1) to it.

(NB or whatever value you want to set it to.)

It just controls the display of certain dialogue boxes, have a look in the help file.

Yea, and certain warnings too, like if you have expert set to "5" it won't ask you "Do You Really Want To Overwrite This File?" it will just do it.

Can be dangerous in the wrong hands.

Darn, I was hoping it came with an "easy" button! Is there a "Beginner" sysvar?

Actually, that is not one of the things it controls.

That does look dangerous. I would need a back button to save myself.

I do not want to have my users redefining blocks by accident.

That is probably one reason that this variable is not saved between sessions.
Also, it's generally used in lisp when you want to drive a command and avoid certain prompts.
