Default Multileader vs quick leader with hatch

Multileaders act as hatch boundaries. Quick leaders were recognized as annotation by the hatch command and ignored. Is there a system variable that will force multileaders to be treated as annotation like quick leaders were?

Not that I'm aware off unfortunately. I am sure that Autodesk is aware of the shortcomings Multileaders have had though. With any luck, they'll fix this in 09. Any of the beta testers willing to attest to this?
