    Default Duct Tag Issue

    We found a top of duct and bottom of duct tag in content builder that we would like to use. However; we need to change the properties of the text. Attached, is the tag in action and a sample of what we need to do.

    These tags are big mystery to me.

    I believe the tag is using text on the "standard" style of text. Therefore, change the font associated with this style to match your needs. I think this is what you need. I hope this helps...

    You can either edit the block "Aecb_Duct_Top_Bottom_Tag" directly to change that or you can create a new one and drag/drop that one into your tool palette. I think that creating a new tag is probably better.

    Here are the steps to create a new one:

    1. Explode the AutoCAD version (you will have to explode it three times)
    It should change to:
    T= DUCTOBJECT:TOPOFDUCTCALC
    B= DUCTOBJECT:BOTTOMOFDUCTCALC

    2. Edit the "T=" and "B=" to be what you want
    3. Change the text widths, height, etc. to be what you want
    4. Modify the box size as needed
    5. Click Menu > Format > Define Schedule Tag, select the objects
    6. Either use a new name or the original name ("Aecb_Duct_Top_Bottom_Tag")

    See how that works, let me know...

    For clarification, I made a quick movie of how to do this...

    Can you do this if using Annotative Text?

    Ryan,

    Yes, I am using annotative text and it works, you just have to scale it down when creating it...

    So if I want my text to be 3/32" in Paper Space, I need to scale that down by 4.5 to 0.02083?

    I know I am making this more difficult than this really has to be. I remember trying to work with tags before and having this simialr problem, which is why I started to use labels instead.

    Honestly, I trial-and-error'd it until it worked. The value of the scale factor did not quite make sense for the annotative scaling, so I am not exactly sure what is causing this issue. I am in the middle of an internal debate in my mind on whether to continue using the annotative scale feature... it seems to have more problems than solutions.

    I somewhat agree, but it is nice to be able to use the same button/block for multiple scales, and not have to create an 1/8" block and a 1/4" scale block.
