Angry 'This Window Shall Be Closed' Error Message

I keep getting this error message when I zoom into an area of my drawing too far.

"DISPLAY ERROR - An error has occurred while drawing the contents of this window. This window shall be closed." (Then you have to hit the OK button...that's the only option.)

It is extremely annoying because it shuts down the window, stops the command, and if there are other projects open but no other windows in the current project, then the entire drawing file closes and all changes since the last save are lost. Please help! Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how can I fix it?!?! I cannot work like this!!! And it's not just in one particular drawing file...it's ALL Revit drawing files that were created in 2008!

Do you have the OpenGL option turned on?

If your graphic card doesn't support OpenGL, you may see this kind of messages. The solution then is to turn OpenGL off and restart Revit.

That problem is usually caused by a DWG in the View. Try unloading all DWGs just to see if the problem goes away. Then you can turn them on one by one to see which specific one it is. Once you've identifid that, you can reload it & turn it off in just the views that have problems.

Better yet, get rid of the DWG and model in whatever it is
Go back to AutoCAD? I'd rather lose my right arm!

We had this error once. The problem was that someone had imported in a bunch of site plans in .dwg format and they did it multiple times not realizing it, the plans were at wrong scale and they just kept importing it because it wasn't showing up for them because of their visibilty settings. The .dwg file was huge on its own and it was placed in that view multiple times, which was too much information for that view to process, so the window could not be opened and that error came up. I forgot how, but I deleted all those dwg files and the error was gone. Try to audit your file to.

I had it happen once after importing a .dwg file. I told it to automatically place the file and forgot to "center" it. It got imported waaaaay out of my crop region and gave me the error you are experiencing.

Turning off OpenGL Hardware Acceleration and turning on Overlay Planes should fix that.

And as for turning off or getting rid of DWG's....sometimes its a necessary evil...you have to do it.

Try an update of your graphics drivers.
    Fixed the problem here.

What type of graphic card do you have? I have Nvidia's Geforce 7700 GT with the latest drivers and it still has this problem when Open GL is turned on.

But as mentioned, when Open GL is off but overlay planes are on, everything works great. But when Open GL is on, it runs soo much faster.

    Any additional suggestions?
