Default Is there a variable for

Is there a variable for the background color for dtext editing? The problem seems to be when I dbl click on dtext, it comes up with a dark blue background and I cannot see my text. My text is color 7. I can change the text in the properties box but I'd like to see it on my screen. We usually use MText but there are times........(like now)
    Thanks

if you right click in the mtext edit area(where you type the text) you can choose opaque background. I would assume yours is already checked so uncheck it and the color should go away. i'm still looking for how to actually change the color.

    hope this helps

Are you talking about the background color or the highlight color. The reason I ask is because when you dblclick dtect it's all highlighted whereas mtext isn't If it is the highlight color you want to change you can change it by going into mtext, right clicking in the editor and pick "editor Settings. At the bottom of that menu you will find "text highlight color"

Thanks Peeps, that's all good news but for some reason when I change Text highlight color even to yellow, the yellow overrides my text. However, it is only so on one PC. I have 2 PC's and the other one is not masked over by the highlight color. BTW, you can dbl click DText and then rt click in the highlighted area and Editor settings is an option there too. It's possible I could give a quick fix using draworder (?), but I certainly don't want to have to go through that with all my text. Thanks again

I missread your question the first time. you want to change the backgroud color of dtext. not mtext. ok, I still don't know how to do that. But, i found this site that might help you.
i'm going to set mine this way as well. This will solve your dilema but it doesn't change the color as you asked.

    thanks for posting this.

for those of you who don't want to visit the site.

    DTEXTED
By default, when you double-click on Dtext in A2006, you get the frameless editor (Dtext figure on the left). If you would prefer to use the Edit Text dialog box to edit your Dtext (Dtext figure on the right), set the variable DTEXTED to 1.
