Smile Custom Line type problem in LDD 2008

    Hello,

We are experiencing problems with our custom line types. We have LDD & Map 2008 loaded on all computers. All network paths have been checked and updated for linetypes, fonts menus etc. to work on each computer. The line types we are having trouble with are DITCH, and SLOPE. The ditch linetype is showing as a dot, the slope is showing as a continuous line. This was a big problem last week, now it seems to be just a few drawings we are having the line type problem with. These were drawings created in version 2004. We have re-loaded the line types into the drawing, did a regen and worked. However, when you exited the drawing, and went back in, the custom line type would change back to dot and continuous.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Peter Haveman

This is a response I had received from Autodesk:

Development has isolated the source of the problem (a residual reference to an old Softdesk shape file LTYPESHP) and are now working on a resolution.

It happens only in dwgs that contain AEC objects(points, contours, grading objects). If the AEC objects are in the same dwg as complex linetypes then the issue exists with the complex linetypes. One workaround is to reference in any AEC object data - as long as it is referenced in the complex linetypes have no issues.

One user reported success by exporting the objects to a LandXML file, setting all the linework to continuous, then using WBLOCK to export the linework. Once the data and linework has been exported, insert it into a fresh drawing template and reset the linetypes.

    Kirk,

Thank you very much for this information, we appreciate it very much. We will test exporting the drawing using Land XML and WBLOCK and importing into new drawing.

    Best Regards,
    Peter

Interesting response, because this wasn't a problem in previous versions of LDT/LDC, and Autodesk has known about this problem PRIOR to two service packs and it's still not fixed. Neither SP1 or SP2 fixed this problem.
