Default Yesterday I ordered an XPS 1530 did I make a mistake?

    I'm confused.

Yesterday I ordered an XPS 1530 On the recommended laptop list they have XPS's listed as being ok. Should I have ordered a m4300? I went for a 7200 rpm hd, 1280x800 display. 4 gigs ram. At the office I'll be attached to a 24" dell flat panel.

Did I make a mistake? Should I go cancel this order? HELP!

I wouldn't return it. These Dell XPS are targeted to gamers. And if it can handle the last generation of hardware and RAM "guzzlers" games out there, I'm pretty sure you will not have problems with it.

    Good luck with it.

I would have gone for the Precision M4300 as it has a workstation graphics card, which usually work best with Open GL on in Revit, and you can get a 1680 x 1050 or even 1920 x 1200 screen (which may strain your eyes).

Having said that, the latest builds of Revit seem to be working fine with GeForce cards on some of our machines.

The XPS will be far lighter and more stylish than the M4300 though, or you could go for the 14" M2300 and have something a bit lighter.

Me too - I have a lovely Sony Vaio SZ series laptop - but I have an HP Workstation that I use in the Office for Revit.

I would be interested to know how you get on with the Dell as I'm torn between XPS or Vostro for my dad
