Has anyone had a problem with the NVIDIA Quadro FX570 and the 3GB switch? We recently bought a batch of Dell Precision T3400's. This is a new setup to us as Dell discontinued the system we had been buying. With the old setup up we were able to get FX3450's and were pleased with the performance of the machine & v-card. The FX3450 isn't available for the new line ... we considered the FX3700 but it is $800 extra. We ended up selecting the FX570. As part of our standard configuration we enable the 3GB switch on all new machines. Shortly after configuring the machines we started having trouble with the video drivers constantly getting lost ... that is to say the drivers essentially uninstalled themselves every time we rebooted the machine and we had to manually reinstall them. After hours on the phone with Dell tech support we found that the only solution was to not enable the 3GB switch. A horrible option for us that use Revit (we work on many project with file sizes over 150MB). Dell briefly considered giving us a bunch of FX3700 cards but decided that was too expensive and offered us XP64 instead. We're still in the process of converting one of the machines to XP64 which means we haven't tested it yet.
So all that being said, I suppose I have two questions now. Has anyone else had issues with the FX570 card and the 3GB switch? Secondly, are there any headache's with using Revit on XP64? Clearly from other threads it is possible even though Revit isn't 64-bit yet, but just because it's possible, doesn't mean it’s easy.
