This seems to work fine if there isn't already a Dimension Style with the same name in the drawing. Is there a way to overwrite the dimstyle if it exists and create new if it dosn't?

There's 2 ways of getting a dimension style to be updated from another drawing:
    1. Use the Standards command (Tools --> CAD Standards --> Configure). You'll need to save the DWG with the correct dimstyle(s) as a DWS file for this.
    2. Use Express Tools DimEx & DimIm (Express --> Dimension --> Dimstyle Export and Dimstyle Import).
I like the Express tools one best, since it will import new styles as well as update existing. But the standards can do more than just dimensions.
