Default Aligned Materials: what am I doing wrong

So I am trying to get an 8X16 CMU pattern to align with a render material. The image files supplied with RAC2009 are named 200X400, so the ration would be right. And yet, when I go into Texture Alignment I can get the vertical joints pretty close, but the horizontal joints are off by nearly 1" in only three courses, and the vertical joints are put of alignment as much within 10 units or so. I would expect the centerlines of the grout lines to be exactly 8"x16" in the image, so along the length of a wall my units are something like reality. Am I doing something wrong? Or am I just asking for way too much?

    Thanks,
    Gordon

You're probably doing nothing wrong. The alignment of bitmaps with patterns is a little buggy.
HERE's my previous post on this.
