Default Reorient an object in space to be parallel a principal plane

Is there a command or set of commands that will take a plane surface, say a triangular plane, that is oriented in an arbitrary position in space and rotate and/or translate the plane so that it is parallel to any one of the principle planes, i.e. XY, YZ or XZ?
