Default Model Lines in copied groups

I have been having problems with Model lines in some copied groups.
when I have a ML in a group and copy that group around the ML remains in the original location of the first group where it was created.
this behavior also applies to families that are line based.

    has anyone had this problem?

I am trying to recreate this problem from scratch, in a fresh file
but i can't trigger it when I try to.

I have had this problem in 3 recent projects.

Are they connected at the endpoints to other similar objects outside the group? Try doing a move with a disjoin...

I believe this is what is happening but it is not clear to what it is trying to keep attached. perhaps a wall end. But I would think that when an item is in a group it should not have associativity to objects outside of the group.

also I am surprised that it does not lead to a 'fix groups' error,
the groups are copied to different locations relative to the original so each instance of the group is actually different.
