    Default Dimension Text override issues

Is there a toggle to allow you to cut and paste text from say Excel into the text override box of AutoCAD in the properties box. Seen some threads out there, but not directly related to this. I have to put spacing of some things in my drawings, and I have to override a bunch of Dims, and I REALLY don't want to do it one at a time using dedit.

Yep, jUSt select all the dims, then under TEXT in the properties palette, type (or cut and paste) whatever you need in the "text override" area. It will change all the selected dimensions.

Well, there is a mix here. If there is text in the cell, and I copy the text from the bar (not the cell) I can paste that into the space, but not a formulated cell. If I click on the cell and right click and select copy, then it will not paste into the text override box. If I double click on the box and select the text..which in my case is a formula, I can paste the formula int the text override box. I just don't understand why. I need the results of the formula to paste, or find a way to make a routine to do the formula's inside of AutoCAD.

You would need to PasteSpecial -- which is evidently not supported by the dimension override datafield.

Workaround A would be to PasteSpecial into an empty cell in Excel, choose Values, and then cut and paste that into the dimension override box.

Otherwise, PasteSpecial into Acad, as TEXT, the cut and paste that into the dime override field.

kinda ugly.....sounds like a Wishlist item for Adesk to support PasteSpecial anywhere they support Paste

What is funny, is that it worked fine in 2000.

    I see what you mean.
Excel should have a copy value command.
It gets annoying having to highlight the text in the menubar.
