    Cool Map pulldown menus

I searched everywhere including in these forums for an answer on how to reactivate my Map pulldown menu dialog boxes. I came in the forum last week and found several solutions, none of which worked. I submitted a help ticket to Autodesk and they responded with the same answer which was set cmddia, attdia, filedia to 1. Has anyone figured this one out?

    Thanks for everyone's reply!

First thing is I am working with AutoCAD/Map 2005 which we just deployed. I have tried unloading and reloading all of my menus including the acmap. The strange thing is that this is happening on only two out of 15 machines and I cannot find the difference. It so happens that on these two (plus a couple others) we were having trouble with the license manager finding the civil and survey licenses so we had to type in a variable to help it go directly to the servers that have the licenses. I do know if this would affect anything. It sounds like this would be something like a toggle of some sort????

From the information posted the answer given is the correct one.
Are there any error messages that appear when you select a map
command from the pull-down? Use the F2 key to review the text window
to verify that there is or is not a message displayed after your
    selection.

through until a solution is achieved.

I would also try using the MENULOAD command to unload and reload the ACADMAP menu to see if that kick starts something. If not you can always try a repair install.

It would help us all if you included which version of Map you are running. If it is 2004 or 2005, it could be corrupt registry entries under the login name. Using Menuload to unload and then reload the ACADMAP.mnu (unless you have customized your MNS file) should reset your MAP menu for you. If you reload your MNS file and still have the same problems, I would try loading the MNU to see if that is where the problem is. I have seen cases of someone customizing their MNS and missing one ; or _ and the entire menu will not work.

Another thing to check might be the permissions on the two machines that you are having problems with. Do they have at least "Local" admin rights or read-write permissioins to the registry? I know this was supposed to have changed with 2005, but I currently don't have that installed so I can't help you there.

I'm having the same problem in AutoCad Land Desktep v 2004. The person who mentioned admin rights and permissions might be on to something. The machine I'm having trouble with may have lesser admin rights than the machine on which the software is working correctly.

What message is displayed on your command line when the
menu pull down item fails? Please some one post the contents
of the text window here? Please otherwise we are guessing in
    the dark here.
Also note I have seen many undesirable results from using menuload
while in land desktop, and caution against it's use.

You talkin' to me? If so, I will provide an example:

When I do Map>Options, the dialogue box I am used to seeing does not appear. Instead, I get the command line equivalent, as follows:
    "Select type [Workspc/Proj/Query/saveBack/Datasource/Multiuser/System/Coordsys/eXit] <X>"

One would think the cmddia 1 and filedia 1 fixes would work, but they don't.

I plan to log in as administrator on this Win XP Prof. machine and see if this helps.

Interesting, because the only way I can get it to display
on the command line is this:

    Command: _MAPOPTIONS (dialog is displayed)

    Command: filedia

Enter new value for FILEDIA <1>: 0

    Command: cmddia

Enter new value for CMDDIA <1>: 0

    Command:
    Command:
    Command: _MAPOPTIONS
    Select type
    [Workspc/Proj/Query/saveBack/Datasource/Multiuser/System/Coordsys/eXit] <X>:

Set them back to 1, and the dialog returns.
