Legends Transfer between projects

It appears that there is a bug in legends being able to copy between projects
I did a search on legend transfer and there was a lot of bad advice based on how we used to copy schedules from one project to another prior to the Insert From File function (put it on a sheet, copy to anothe sheet in the target project).
While the following makes intuitive sense (well maybe intuitive for my inner geek): Open up the source legened, copy items to a legend in the target project.

Unless I am doing something dramatically wrong or it is just a vista 64 bit glitch, here is the rub:
Lines will copy from one projects legend to another projects legend
Text will copy from one projects legend to another projects legend
but a selection set of Text and lines will NOT paste into the target legend.

Symbols will NOT paste into the target legend


I went back and tried this on the last version of 2008 with similar results, so it is either my machine/install or a bug.
I am curious if it is just me, because the threads that advise copy and paste between legends are complete threads from the 9.1-2008 migration cycle and noone seems to mention it....possibly something that broke during one of the 2008 updates? Did a quick scan in the Known Issues thread, nothing popped out at me

I haven't had any problems with copying between legends. You have to have both projects open in the same session, open the original legend, copy what you want, create a new legend in the new project and paste it in. Kind of a pain when you try to lay out sheets and you cant copy legends with them, but it works fairly well. At least in 08. We are migrating to 09 next week after a submittal deadline so I'll have to retest it then.

Have you tried doing this on another machine?

Yes, process is good even if a workaround for the reasons you mentioned.
Does not work on my current machine (traveling, not in office to test on different machines)
hmmm....edit....
Today, I can copy/paste multiple items (text and lines [not symbols]) between legends of different projects, yesterday I could not paste (copy seemed fine) if the selection set had both lines and text no matter what I tried.

same machine, same files....interesting.
