Does anyone know how to embed text in line patterns
ie having ----G----- for say a Gas line etc.
Any ideas?

This is not possible in a line style. You could create a detail component like this and then create a repeating detail to draw a "line".
Here is a workaround:

Hi,
I have attached a Utility Line family that I download from a thread here in forum. Thanks to who created it
Cheers,
Jonas
This is a damned if you do, and damned if you don't issue for Autodesk.
Typically we only ever use text in linetypes to indicated a variety of hydraulic services. I'm sure there are other non-hydraulic usages for text linetypes, but the main one is to indicate pipes.
So, Autodesk has to decide if they go about there merry little way and ignore the fact that Architecture users do need to model hydraulic services, even if they are not engineered by them.
Or does Autodesk give us text linetypes, conceeding the fact that they are wrong and that us Architecture users do need to show hydraulic services, in which case they might as well give us those modeling tools from MEP.
Does Revit MEP have a tool for creating simple utility lines like architects typically show? For instance, we often need to show drainage lines on our foundation plans, and I'm really tired of messing around with repeating details lines.
When are we going to get the modeling tools of MEP and Structure in Revit?
And the other way around too. I don't have MEP in front of me to check it but I was helping someone on another thread that is using MEP and he said that the floors sub elements tool (that's available on Revit Architecture) has been removed from Revit MEP... Go figure...
The thread I'm talking about is: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=81137

For some reason, when using the components that johk provided, I get a line going throught the text. Am I missing something?
Thanks everyone.
