    hi,

    how would i create a roof like this?

    You might be able to create it in-place with the new swept-blend tool. There will probably be some voids involved somewhere, though.

    You could also create the shape as a mass and then apply roof by face.

    thanks for the reply, but i havent used massing or swept blends yet

    you'd have to set up a few work planes, but you could probably do 3 roof-by-extrusions and then use the "cut plan profile" option to get it...

    Pretty easy actually. I've attached a file that you can reverse engineer to see how it was done. I created an In-place family of the Mass category. Then I created a solid sweep: the path is the shape of the eaves of the roof in plan. Then I sketched the shape of the roof (a cross-section profile) When you finish the Mass, you get the shape on the right. Then go to the Design Bar and slect Roof by Face, and pick the 3 curvning faces of the roof, then click Create Roof in the Options Bar. You'll then have the roof on the left. (I moved the mass away from the roof for clarity.)

    (Edit: use a void extrusion to cut off the back of the Mass to be 'flush' with a wall (like your image) before applying the roof by face. Attached another image to show result)
