Typically this shows up when part of the file is lost while it is being copied (i.e. a new local file is being created). If that is the case then the error should show up when you try to open. Typically if you try to make a new local that will fix it.
If you are seeing the error after you have been working on the file for a while it tends to suggest that something is corrupt in the file itself. I would recommend sending the file to Autodesk and have them take a look to see if there is anything they can find.
Either that or dump the old file and start over. Don't even copy things out of it as the problem tends to follow the objects not just the file. I know this is harsh and you will lose time, but better a few hours now rather than days or weeks (I've been there) later on...
