CIVIL 3D 2009 LOCKS UP WHEN OPENING FILES FROM 06

I AM RUNNING CIVIL 3D 09. OTHERS IN MY OFFICE ARE RUNNING ACAD 06. I AM HAVING PROBLEMS OPENING DRAWINGS IN 09 WHEN THE GUY IN 06 HAS SAVED THEM. WE SAVE ALL OUR FILES DOWN TO 2004. THE DRAWING WILL HIT 81% AND THEN JUST SIT THERE TILL I HAVE TO CONTROL ALT DELETE.

ALSO THE GUY IN 06 HAS PROBLEMS SOMETIMES PASTING BLOCKS INTO THE DRAWING WHEN I GET OUT OF AND SAVE.

OTHER SUGGEST EXPORTING TO 2004 RATHER THEN SAVING IT DOWN TO 04. WE REALLY DO OT WANT SEVERAL COPIES OF THE DRAWING FLOATING ARROUND.

ALSO WE TRIED TO OPEN USING JUST 2009 ACAD AND IT OPENED FINE. THE CIVIL 3D SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM.

You've just defined a great rationale for not mixing and matching versions of autodesk products. Compatability between versions is no longer anything the suits in san rafael apparently care about, and SaveAS to an earlier version does not work with verticals.


There are two fixes -- downgrade to civil 3d 2006 and restart the projects, or upgrade the 06 people to 2009.

a third possibility would be to open the 2006 version dwg in Civil3d 2007, save it to 2007 format, and then open in C3D 2008, save it again, and finally open in C3d 2009. I've heard reports that that can work -- apparently the changes in AEC Object definitions are drastic enough that earlier viersons are not being read properly by later c3d releases.

Best solution -- it's up to Autodesk to fix their products to work as the customer expects them to.

We are having the same problem. Have you found a fix yet, Josh? For us, even the saving up to newer CAD versions does not seem to be working.

Well, our IT dept upgraded the 06 guy to 08 Acad.. I have not yet had to open those files again but I have opened other stuff from him with no problem.

sorry wrong thread but couldnot find to post new one.

i have received one drawing file from someone, when i opened my antivirours blocks somethink called acaddoc.lsp which i deleted. Afterthat some popup window opens everytime whenever i open Autocad. it got some message but could not read as its in symbolic way i have saved tha screen as JPEG if anyone could tell me whats that and how to get rid of this. the picture is attached with this thread.


My machine is MacBook Pro 2.33 Ghz. 3Gb ram 160GB hardisk, through Bootcamp i am using Vista and autocad 2004.

apparently vista and 2k4 will not play nicely together. try XP or W2K for a guest OS instead

even my other XP service pack 2 from HP desktop giving the same problem, not mine only but all the pc's who got that file....

please let me know what to do how to read to get read off tha....

I have a similar issue, but the DWG in question was saved in C3D 2009, then edited in AutoCAD 2009, and now C3D 2009 cannot open the DWG. It crashed when the load progress indicator reaches 99%.

I have not found a workaround nor a cause. I've tried the fix I found on Autodesk's support area, but it didn't help.
