    Default Label curve fractions

Is there a way to stack the fractions using a label curve? Or a way to eliminate the space between the fraction and the pipe system text? I've searched and can't find anything, the help has nothing on modifying the data or format beyond what is on the "label style annotation tab" I'v tried looking through display manager and style manager without any luck. Is it possible to do this?

    Thanks,
    Elliott

    Hi Elliot,

First, welcome to AUGI and congrats on your first post.

I would think you could set up the label curve to stack but I don't know which curve you want to modify. Could you post a sample drawing with the curve as it is now and a piece of sample text showing how you want the curve to look and I'll see what I can do?

Here is a sample, I have the curve label on the pipe. You can see there is a space between the " and CW that I'd like to get rid of. Also the fraction is not stacked, it's not as big of a deal on fractions by themselves but when it's over 1 it takes up a lot of space.

I can get what I want by manually entering the labels as I did in the drawing. I've tried using some of the other annotation tools and tags but none break the pipe automatically like the label curve. One of the pipe tag displays in decimal and I have to delete out info that I don't want displayed. So I'd really like to get the pipe curve set up properly. I've also set the text style width factor to .75 to try and help.

    Hey Elliot,

I don't think you will be able to make the fractions stacked, but to get rid of the spaces, you could create a new font (called "ROMANS_nospaces") and remove the space from it...

... but, that is difficult to do - check out this post for some help:

    Hey Elliot,

That font thing is too crazy, I think this will work better:

    1. Create a new Property Data Format and name it "Stacked Fractions" (Format > Style Manager > Documentation Objects > Property Data Formats)

    2. Change the Unit Format to be "Fractional" and change the Fraction Format to be "Diagonal", click "ok" (you may want to set the unit type to length and units to inches, etc.)

    3. Create a new formula Property Set Definition under "PipeObject" and name it "PipeTagStacked" (Format > Style Manager > Documentation Objects > Property Set Definitions > PipeObject)

    4. For the formula, insert the "PipeSize" definition and change the units to be "Stacked Fractions", then the "Abbreviation" definition, click "ok"

    5. Insert a label for the pipe, right-click it and select "Edit Label Style", change the "Options" to be "Use Property Set Definition" and select the "PipeTagStacked" definition.

    6. Beer-me!

Let me know if this doesn't work for you...

    Buzz,

I definitely owe ya a beer (beers!)

A lot of people have been looking for this solution and have come to the realization that it's just not possible. I can't believe it worked. I followed your steps for the most part except I took it a little farther.

I added a label curve style that does the System Abbreviation and Dia ie: 1/2"HW

    All I did was:

Create a new Label Curve Style and name it "Stacked Fractions" (Format > Style Manager > Documentation Objects > Label Curve Styles), change the "Options" to be "Use Property Set Definition" and select the "PipeTagStacked" definition.

    thanks again,
    Elliott

edit: In order to get the label to work you need to add property sets to the pipes, took me few minutes to figure it out. In case anyone else gets stuck on that too.

Actually upon looking at it my fractions still aren't stacked, but the space between the diam. and sytem is gone. It's better than it was before. I don't understand why it's not stacking, I've trided setting the Definition format and the property format.

    Hi Elliot,

I hadn't forgotten about you. I was going the same path as Buzz but like you I couldn't get the fractions to stack. It makes me cranky because the label is just mtext and should do what the PSD tells it to do, but NOOOOO.

I'll play with it some more when I get a little free time (Currently scheduled for August 5, 2012)

Yes I did, I also tried modifying an exisisting format (Standard) to do diagonal stacking. I don't understand why the option is there if it doesn't work. Even on the sample area, the fractions are not being displayed as horizontal or diagonal regaurdless of what the selection is. Does it show up as stacked for you? I was wondering if there was some sort of style override somewhere? My mtext stacks properly.
