We are getting an error when opening a Revit file that has an imported dwg, see attached. We don't need the dwg imported anymore. Is there a way to detach a dwg from a Revit file without opening it, i.e. AutoCAD reference manager?

If it is linked, try moving the file to somewhere else (or deleting the file) so Revit won't find it when opening your project.

Have you tried going to File>Manage Links? You should be able to delete it there.
It is possible that the file got corrupted, but you can try to send file to Support for investigation in case there is fixable issue.
You could just rename the file, perhaps just (TEMP) added to the end of the file name. That would change it enough that Revit couldn't find it, and perhaps you could get in, delete the link, and rename the DWG back. Possibly just a few minutes time, IT will never know.

it appears to be an issue with the rvt file. We thought it was the dwg since it crashed after the rvt file was loaded and during the importing of the dwg as shown on the status bar. We moved the dwg in hopes of being able to opening the rvt and detaching the dwg, but it still crashed. I guess we are lucky since we still have the original components that were inserted in the file and can start over. Thank for all your help.
Have you tried auditing it?
As a second option, you could try linking this problematic file into a blank file and then use the "Bind" option to make it part of the file.
