I have a question about computer requirements, recommendations for using Land Desktop to work on very large topo files. What is going to make more of a difference? Processor speed or RAM or both?
Thanks

RAM up to 2 Gb, maybe 3Gb if you boot with the appropriate switch, after that CPU and disk speed. Remembering that LDT has not been properly updated for 5 or 6 years now..... so handling large data sets is not efficient with lots of disk/file IO. It was written as an R12-DOS add-on after all

So will moving to a 64 bit OS with more RAM help when using LDT?

Probably not. Actually that's almost certainly not.
That's interesting. Is there a reason why this is true?
Also, I'm working on a certain topo file that is taking up to 10 minutes just to quick save. I've purged everything that can be removed from the file out of it and it is still horribly slow to open, save etc. Would more processing speed help this or is this more than likely an issue with the file?
Thanks
Good point. I'm gonna save it locally and try it again to see if that helps. I'll get back to ya after lunch
