    Exclamation Recurring Warning Dialogs

Everything is running fine for our installation of ADT2004, but because many of our clients still use ACAD 2000/2002 we have the default set to save all of our drawings back to the 2k format for now. Makes sense, right? Well, every time we save a drawing we get the following the warning dialog box that says "Saving AEC objects to a previous version is not supported. Yada, yada, yada."

We also get a similar warning when opening drawings from clients & our older stuff: "This drawing was last saved by an earlier version of this application. Saving the drawing will upgrade it to the current version which is incompatible with earlier versions."

Here are the actual dialogs (if you're interested): AEC Objects and Incompatible Version

Ok - I get it already! The problem is that they show up EVERY time we save/open these drawings. I would have thought that Autodesk would have some type of toggle for these (similar to the proxy graphics settings/options) that you can set so you don't see these warnings, but I can't find it or figure it out.

Does anybody have a solution or know where one is? I know I can't be the only one out there that is having this problem.

    Thanks in advance!

I haven't tried this yet so it might not work.
How about setting the EXPERT variable such
that it suppress those messages in you
    template file.

That was one of the things I tried first - but had no luck. I tried them all from 0 to 5 & still got the dialogs every time.
    Good thought, though.

    Any other ideas?

OK - we got the answer (or it appears to be, anyway) from another outside source:

    AECFILESAVEMESSAGE

This will not work until after you receive one of the dialog boxes in question (for some reason it gives you "unknown command"), but as soon as you get the dialog box, type it in at the command line. You'll receive this prompt:

Display courtesy message when saving to a previous version file [Yes/No] <Yes>:

Type NO and you'll not see them again.

Thanks to all that looked for an answer, even if you didn't post.

You'll also want to set "AECFILEOPENMESSAGE" to eliminate the message on file open.

    ! ! ! ! ! Thanks!
Why do they make it so hard to get along?? A simple toggle like the proxy graphics dialog......

Ah, well.... That's why we do this, right?

    Thanks again.

A toggle has been added to ADT 2005.
