    Cool INSBASE is at 0,0,0

    INSBASE is at 0,0,0 but when I insert thru windows copy/paste it inserts it not at 0,0,0

    That's correct.
    When you copy via the clipboard, acad assigns a basepoint just outside the lower-left extent of the objects selected.

    Yeah that a pain.

    Try using Copy with Basepoint (CTRL SHIFT C) and use 0,0,0 as the base point.

    Then when you paste specify the insertion point as 0,0,0

    Yea, what everyone else said ^^^
    And, you may want to look into "Paste to Original Coordinates" (pasteorig).

    If you copy clip something (CTRL+C) and "PASTEORIG" it will use the drawing's insbase as it's base point (provided they are in the same ucs, usually World).

    yeah thats my work around, just thought their was something that I
    was missing in setvars' that I could change, i've been using the regular
    old copy from autocad or copy/paste w/ basepoint instead of copy/paste
    I mean it was inserting like 300' feet away from any point that i picked
