Default Problem with dims in paper space.

I've had this problem since adt2005 and now again in architecture 2008 when dimensioning in paper space. When I pick 2 ends of an object I get a crazy dimension. Like 125'-3" . But the true dim. is lets say 4'-0". It doesn't matter if I use 1/4" 1/8" 1/6" anything I use I get a crazy dimension. If I just put a dim in. And then pull it's endpoints to the object it's ok. Now to make matters worse. If i move the viewport at all. All the dims. go back to that crazy number. to fix it I have to drop a dim in. and match properties. What could be the problem? And has anyone else have this problem? It doesn't do it all the time. That is another mistery.

I hate to say so because you must have some reason to dimension in paper space, but using ACA it is intended to dimension and note in the view drawing

I am not 100% certain this still is true in more recent versions, but I do know that AEC Objects did not work with transpatial dimensions (associative dimensions in paper space, referencing objects in model space through a viewport) when that feature was first introduced. I do not recall the new features list of any later releases stating that transpatial dimensions now worked.

If you are using smart walls or any other type of "smart architecture objects" the Dimension association will not work. If the setting DIMASO is set to 2. Then it will automatically choose the vport scale factor to use. This will work with one string using lines, and then not work on the next strin on a wall. Try setting the variable to dimaso = 1. And manually control the dimension variables. I have created a custom pull down that presets all the variables that needs chnaged to do this. dimlfac, dimscale, etc. etc.

Let me know if this works for you.
