Default Scrolling instead of pan w/ new mouse

I just hooked a new mouse up to my CPU and when I press the scroll button to pan my drawing I end up scrolling instead (up is down, left is right). Variable mbuttonpan is properly set. What is causing this?

    Thanks.

could be the mouse software, especially if its a logitech mouse. Try changing the scroll wheel in the software. It might be set to something Autocad doesn't recognise.

In your mouse properties, set the middle button to "middle button". I think it's default is scroll.
