Default X-references Disappear When Binding Drawing

    Hello to AUGI Members,

Has anyone experienced the following problem. When I try to bind all of the X-reference drawings that are attached to the host drawing file, all of the attached X-reference files vanish from the drawing. They are not bound into the host drawing and the X-ref manager no longer has them listed as attached X-reference files.

They appear to removed from the drawing.....if anyone has experienced this anomaly do you have any recommendations or fixes to prevent this from happening....??

    Any assistance will be appreciated.....!

    Regards,
    Vince

The first two things I would consider are these, based on my reading of your post:

    1) The XREFs were inserted when bound - making them part of the host DWG using its layers and not thier own.

    2) The XREFs were nested within another XREF. If A.dwg is XREF'd into B.dwg which is
XREF'd into C.dwg and you bind B into C, A will "dissapear" if you can get it to bind at all.

I would first purge and audit all dwgs first.

I've also noticed problems with the new x-ref tool bar verses the classicxref manager...(I'm assuming yer atleast 2007)

    VLG,

    Thank you for your response........!

I also picked up some information that indicates this problem is sometimes caused by drawings that do not originate from AutoCAD such as Intergraph, Solid Works, etc.

Did you hear anything to confirm this.....??

I tried the "classicxref" approach and it is an improvement over the new X-ref manager but for some projects I need to use either the "Export to AutoCAD" option or "Etransmit" option to bind the drawings. Have you tried this as a work around....??

    Thanks again for your input...!

    Regards,
    Vince
