Default DXF file won't load in ACAD

This shows up in the command line and the dxf would not load:

"Improper table entry name 0 on line 36.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded."

Anyone have any idea why this is not working? A google search tells me that ACAD might not be accepting a font in the DXF.. is there a way to fix this without going into the original file?

    Any help is appreciated.

Can you ZIP and post the DXF file?
What application created the DXF file?

My guess is that there is an assignment of a layer/dimstyle/textstyle,etc. to a table entry that does not exist. In other words, the DXF file is trying to say that a line is on layer "X", when there is no layer "X" defined in the drawing.

You could start by opening the file in notepad/wordpad (or, even better, a programmers' editor) and identify line 36 and see what it says.

Try to open with True DwgView.

Autodesk's True view app _is_ autocad, with most of the commands disabled,,,, the viewing and import capability are the same as Acad. Best bet with a hosed DXF is to look at the DXF, and try to figure out how to edit it to fix
