    Question Organizing your details

    Trying to organize my Architectural details for use on the web for company wide access. What methods/ Ideas do you have to offer. Software?

    If you're on subscription, you might want to think about trying Vault as an enterprise detail manager. the DB ought to be able to handle the metadata needed to really manage a standard detail library, and provide previews/insertion ability to Acad.

    A free alternative could simply be a directory structure organization, and ADC to insert the details, but the drawing preview is pretty sucky.

    A pricier option would be Synergis Adept - kind of overkill for the job, but again provides a database for the management side of standard details, and at least some history.

    If you're too cheap to use management software, you could resort to the MasterFormat coding system. It's part of the NCS and is pretty handy. Our details span several traditional design disciplines, and it works really well for us.
