    Default Family/Pipe Connection Issue

    Hi all,

Okay, I've got a cylindrical water tank that has a supply in fitting, a supply out fitting and a global fitting (acting as the vent).

In one tank type, the fittings are at a height of 36" and the pipes all connect up just fine.
If I decide I need a bigger tank, I change the family to a larger size so the height goes up to 40" and get the following message: "The family is connected in a duct/pipe network and can no longer keep the connectivity. Disconnect the family from the network?"

I only have the option to disconnect or cancel. Is there any way to make the pipe stay connected to the connectors when the family changes heights? It seems counter-intuitive that I have to go back into the family and reconnect the pipe to the connectors at the new height in the family.

Is this a problem with a workable, parametric solution?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is no good news for you. Sometimes Revit can figure out how to move things a bit and keep them connected, and sometimes not. My suggestion is to make the family type change and delete the last leg/elbow and re-connect.

Well that is not very pleasant news (which, in good faith, you did warn me about).
Thanks for confirming this, if nothing else.

This is true. We certanily do trey and regenerate the connected piping to the new height of the tank, but it sounds like that is failing for some reason. If you don't think it should be failing, go ahead and post the situation up here on the forums. We can take a look.

    Cheers,
