Default SNAP? (Subscription Now Attatch Program)

I am currently running CAD '09 on my office PCs.

Today I received a call from a guy who claims he works for Autodesk offering me a subscription service and a reduced fee for CAD '09. The whole conversation seemed ... off .... to me and so I wanna confirm that this is actually an authentic Autodesk promotion and not some scam before I proceed further with this.

Has anyone out there heard of this promotion?

Can anyone confirm if it is authentic or not?

I'd say its bullshit. I ran a search at Adesk, and the only promos are for the following countries:

    Australila
    Malaysia
    New Zealand
    Singapore
    ASEAN countries

Most of the promos are for getting a price break to purchase 09 if you have a registered previous version.

I've never been contacted directly by Adesk and I've been running with them for 15 years. Not to mention, wouldn't that call come from a reseller and not Adesk directly?
Why is it called common sense when it is so rare?

I'm inclined to say it's BS, too. I was surprised to receive the call from autodesk directly. And the link on the e-mail lead to someone else's e-mail ... supposedly on autodesk as well.

I phoned one of the re-sellers and asked for him to verify the authenticity of the program as well .... i'll post what he finds here as well.

know what? i'm gonna post the e-mail i received here .....

    Attention: XXXXXXX

    XXXXXXX,

Thanks for your time! We are currently having a Subscription* promotion called the SNAP promotion (Subscription Now Attach Program) which consists of the following:

Customers like you, who initially purchased non ”Subscription-Only” products without subscription and who registered them after May 1, 2007 can upgrade to 2009 and we’ll waive the upgrade fee if they sign up for Subscription. This entitles you to receive the new 2009 version of your software, receive technical web support directly from Autodesk, have access to on-line self-paced tutorials for your software and many other benefits. If you have any questions, please give me a call. We look forward to having one of our resellers contact you to process your order.

I forwarded the e-mail to Autodesk Customer Service (ABC) and waited for an answer from them.

Their reply was that Nick Sanchez is indeed employed by them and that the offer is legitimate.

So i suppose we can declare this mystery as "SOLVED"

    .... too bad.

I was hoping to uncover that Nick Sanchez was really an old lady groundskeeper claiming to be Nick Sanchez in order to get closer to my cowbell.

I was gonna unmask her and say "see? I was right!"

to which she would have replied "drat! and I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you meddling kids and your cowbell"

we all would have laughed and I would have thrown a scooby snack at someone.

    oh well .....
