    Question Pipe - "Connect Into" question?

    Okay, we're modeling a swimming pool and putting trench drains in, flowing to a sump pump.

    The we started at the opposite corner of where the pump is, drew the drain pipe 16" below grade with a 1/8" per foot slope connected to a trench drain family. After routing the drain, we're using the "connect into" feature for the other trench drains around the edge of the pool so that we don't have to calculate the math. But that feature only connects via a Tee connection and we want an automatic, 45 degree Wye connection. Is there any way to set that, anywhere? We even tried changing the wye fitting family from a wye to a tee type connection in the hopes that the geometry would drive that... it didn't work.

    There doesn't seem to be a "wye" connection type in the pipe type properties box either. Is that missing in this release and planned for a future release?

    For now, we're keeping the wye fitting functioning as a tee and just manually moving it up 45 degrees. A lot of work for something that should be automatic. Is this the only way to do it right now?

    Thanks for any light shed on the issue.

    Unhappy Re: Pipe - "Connect Into" question?

    Seems Revit can't autolayout a wye now.
    Wye is supposed to be added in then drag pipes manually.

    Thumbs up Re: Pipe - "Connect Into" question?

    If you want the program to generate a 'WYE' automatically, try using

    Preferred Junction type = TEE
    Tee = WYE
    Tap = NONE

    You will want to set this up within the properties of pipe type that you are using. I hope that helps.

    Default Re: Pipe - "Connect Into" question?

    Thanks for the suggestion Matthew.
    Unfortunately, therein lies the problem. I set up the junction type to be "Tee" and I have the wye fittings loaded into the project. But in the Tee drop down box, Revit won't allow me to select a wye fitting for a tee junction.

    Just some maturing that Revit Plumbing needs to do for the next release, methinks.

    Thanks again!
