I betcha that lower brightness also reduces power needs. I wonder how many kW hours could be saved by Revit users world wide reducing their monitor brightness. Tongue in cheek, but also serious. Every little bit helps kinda thing.

I fully agree! Any little wasted thing is just that: WASTED! Can't justify it in my opinion. So there, save your environment and lower your monitor brightness No, don't tell me to switch to a black background!

We started drawing on a computer system back in 1984. The original programs all had a white line that came in 3 intensities. We were excited to get the option of using color. I see the Revit forum as going backwards in time. In AutoCAD we always gray scaled out a bunch of stuff that was not important to us, and the stuff that we did want to see is in color. We do ductwork, and the color of the system is real important to us. The field man knows that green is return and red is exhaust, etc. I set up my Revit systems to have the same colors as in my AutoCAD so as not to confuse the field men. My Revit drawings all plot in color.
