    Talking changing values in levels

have entire building that needs to be raised 6.54' thot this could be done by just changing the grade elevation which is now 0.0' but when i put in the new value most of building goes up but much does not
thot I could select everything and move it but constraints exist which only allow horizonal movement not vertical

    tough questions today

Go to Tools > Project position / Orientation > Relocate this project > you will notice the cursor will change to the move one. Pick anywhere and enter the distance you want to move up. Once moved, select one of your level marks > Properties > Edit/New > Change Elevation Base from Project to Shared.

    Kind of a fix.

What you'll want to do for future projects is straighten out the template. Do you use 100'-0" as a project reference elevation? If so - move your level lines up in the template 100'. Now they will read 100'-0" for the project setting. Then when you know the true floor elevation you can use relocate project to "move" it up to the correct shared elevation. You ca put in two level lines styles - one can read project level and the other can read the real survey level. It would be nice if this were a instance per view setting on level lines rather than a type aprameter, but it is still usefull.

    Aaron or another person:
This post has solved the same problem for myself.
One more question: Is there a way to change the units in level heads from architectural to decimal feet, for instance? It seems the level head Elevation field reports a length value and prints it using project units.

    This one is buried deep.
Select the level datum head in your project browser. If you aren't sure which on it is you can go to the type properties of your level datum to find it.
Once there you can edit the settings by selecting the label. Check out the image.

It is much easier to be an Obstacle in Revit then a Resource.

If you move your level lines, your building moves in relation to site, which is fixed on shared coordinates (sea level). Isn`t it possible just to define another project base point?
