We have a curved curtain wall design with main mullions at 10 degree increments. The vertical mullions and segments of the curved curtain wall are 5’ to 6’ apart. We want to be able to add additional mullions to these planes to add exit doors, additional secondary design mullions, etc, but when we add another curtain wall grid it creates another segment to the circle or curve.
As a workaround, we’ve had to make each segment of the curve a separate curtain wall and copy them around the circle. This is a pain and a lot of work, especially when the design radii change while we change the building design.
Here are two possible solutions that come to mind:
- Add a curtain wall grid checkbox property that determines whether they divide a curve or wall.
- Another, better, approach would be to add “Secondary” or “Sub-Curtain Wall Grids” that would only divide a panel and not the whole length. In many of our designs we have these secondary grids that are not continuous and were either used to provide a design pattern on the curtain wall or for door, louver, and window penetrations. Right now, we have to add a grid, and then delete a bunch of segments.
Please add this to your wish list items. Thanks.
