    Default Revit MEP Shortcut Document?

Does anyone have a copy of the Revit MEP shortcuts in a nice format that they would be willing to share? The TXT file leaves something to be desired as far as a quick reference is concerned, and I saw where the Structural folks had some posts that included a formatted version of the 2008 shortcuts. Since the MEP folks at my firm would love to have something similar on-hand to use as well, I thought I would check here before reinventing the wheel!

    Thanks in advance

Some people will have custom shortcuts, so you have to just print the standard txt file, or create your own list with common shortcuts only.

you can find it here (assuming its in the default install location)

    C:\Program Files\Revit MEP 2009\Program - keyboardShortcuts.txt.

you edit that file for customizing your shortcuts. if you enter a duplicate, the command wont work. I dont think any of the default shortcuts start with "X" so using that as a start key should work out fine for added or changed shortcuts. (I use XV for move and XS for create section, etc...)

The keyboardshortcuts file uses 2 keys per command so that you don't have to use the 'old' Autocad method of entering the command using the 'Enter' key or the spacebar.

However, I read recently that if you just put one key in for a command, you can instigate it using the spacebar. I've found that quite usefull in some cases. I hit 'D' and spacebar for the Duct command (and 'DD' for Dimension). Likewise 'M' and spacebar for Move and 'U' and spacebar for Undo.

If you're swapping between Autocad and Revit as I am, it helps to have some of the commands the same.

Let me be more specific. I'm looking for a Quick Reference doc similar to what can be found in this thread...

    http://forums.augi.com/showthread.ph...ture+shortcuts

But more specifically, what is posted here...

    http://cadalot-revitlearningcurve.bl...uts-quick.html

Kudos to Alan (cadalot) for putting this together and sharing it!

Now as you can see, someone using Revit MEP would have to go to the trouble of taking the standard OOTB shortcuts and assemble them into a user friendly format, which I am willing to do, but I just thought maybe someone in RMEP-land already went to the trouble and would share with the AUGI community. Granted any custom shortcuts would need to be added or modified, but having a place to start without all the initial work is my goal.

    Thanks!

This would be useful for me also, as I am branching out into Revit MEP territory myself...

    Anyone?

I would think everyone uses different shortcuts..
Revit MEP just gives us something to modify..
I personally haven't used to many shortcut commands, I'm just using the mouse for everything...
    Out of the box...

Well, that's what I'm looking for, is a nice layout of the OOTB shortcuts. We have -zero- Revit customization aside from content.

In the Cad Managers world, that's music to their ears.. Well, the Autodesk techie world as well.

If you can, try customizing your commands but, leaving the original commands as they are. Something like ZR for Zoom Region could easily be made into ZW for Zoom Window, just leave the ZR in there as well so that when someone has to work on your machine, they don't have to relearn the program the way you have it set up.
Give a man AutoCad, and he'll draw you a floor plan.
Give a man Revit and he'll build you a house.
Give Cadmama a couple of drinks and she'll have everyone singing Rockytop!

Hey Jim...welcome to the other side my friend! I guess that means you and I will be seeing each other quite a bit at AU this year, since we'll most likely be taking similar Revit-based classes? For what it's worth, I plan to put together a shortcut document sometime in the near future, and will be sure to post it here to share. I've got a copy of the Revit Structure shortcut doc to use as a guide, I've just been too busy
