distance between text and leader lines able to be changed?

take a look at the picture below, i wanted to know if its at all possible to make the leader lines from text come closer to the actual text. when there is text with a leader starting from the south or north side of the text, it always looks far away than what my preference is.

knowing that text is a system family, i'm going to assume the answer is no, but it doesnt hurt to ask.

This really needs addressing as it makes for horrible looking drawings. These days with so much info required on plans, sheets real estate is at a premium and the leader offset and the control box around text needs to be tightened up. Also the ability to snap to angles should be added as a priority.
