Smile Locate the Mid point between 2 points Using MTP Snap method

Locates the midpoint between two points

Command entry: At a prompt to locate a point, enter mtp
The midpoint between two points (MTP) command modifier can be used with running object snaps or object snap overrides. (OSNAP command)

At any Command prompt to locate a point, enter mtp or m2p.

First point of mid: Specify a point

Second point of mid: Specify a second point

    Example

If we want to draw line between mid of two rectangles
Start a line command and type MTP Program will ask for two points
Select the two opposite corners of rectangle.
Repeat the same procedure for the other point

In 2007 you can set your F1 key to be a shortcut key instead of help which can suck immensely. I have mine set to M2P.

Start a line command and instead of typing MTP or m2p
you press CTRL + mouse right click button
and select from screen “Mid Between 2 Points”
select the two opposite corners of rectangle and
than repeat the same for opposite object.
For me easier and faster then typing MTP or m2p

Even faster is CTRL + right click to get your Osnap menu, then hit W. That's how I run all my snaps. Hit E for endpoint, M for mid point, C for center, etc, etc. I HATE running object snap on continuously.

I customize my Function keys to act as my object snap overrides. I have left F1 and F2 alone, and since the default Function key settings (Polar, Ortho, etc) are displayed at the bottom of your screen anyway, why not take advantage of customizing your Function keys?

Could someone walk me through how to customize my f keys like mentioned here.
I use mtp or m2p all the time I love it. However I have always hated having to type it out like that. Would like to be able to hit one key and go. I agree that help being f1 is a pain.

I have mep 2009. I have a lot of cusom hot keys that I have created using the xpress tool alias editor. But I cannot seem fo find mtp in there. not the ability to edit the function keys.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks.

You need to use the CUI editor to assign commands to function keys. There is even a sample F1 CUI file located here.

Does anyone know what happened to the W? We've just finally gotten into 2009 and 2010, and suddenly it doesn't work anymore. Is there any way to reassign it?
